AFD's commitments

  • AFD at the centre of reflection on aid effectiveness

    Aid effectiveness has become a core issue for the donor community. This notably led to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs, 2001), the Monterrey Conference on Financing for Development (2002) and the Paris Declaration (2005). AFD meets these issues via the implementation of the French Action Plan for the Paris Declaration. It has set up projects bringing together its entire network abroad for the implementation of this Action Plan.

  • Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER)

    The AFD is committed to promoting a policy of social and environmental responsibility, both through its own operations and through those that it finances. The issue of sustainable development is at the heart of the AFD’s activities, which seek to simultaneously achieve three goals:  promoting economic growth, reducing poverty and social inequality and protecting the environment.

  • Millenium Development Goals (MDGs)

    AFD’s actions in favor of economic growth and preservation of the environment fall directly within the framework of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals, which was set out in 2000 and seeks to reduce global poverty by half by the year 2015.

  • Transparency policy

    The transparency policy aims to strengthen AFD’s credibility and accountability towards its stakeholders, the first being its Principals, partners and all French citizens. This communication contributes to building up a relationship of trust and a quality dialogue between AFD and all stakeholders. It also strengthens the legitimacy of French official development assistance for which AFD is the central operator.
